Beth Peterson, LPC

Beth began working in the field of counseling in 1991 as an evening shelter worker at a domestic violence shelter. In 1993 she obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling degree with a marriage and family specialty from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Beth uses an eclectic approach to counseling, taking into consideration the unique needs of each client. She has  a lot of experience with cognitive behavioral approaches to therapy and is gifted in working with survivors of trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and relational issues. Beth's professional experience includes working in the Family Trauma Unit of Oakland Family Services, working at an outpatient Minirth-Meier/New Life Clinic, and working at Crossroads Counseling Center in Ann Arbor. Beth sees her job as coming alongside clients in order to help them discover paths of healing. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking to overcome relational difficulties, life challenges, hurts, past abuse, spiritual issues, depression, and anxiety. She also has experience doing premarital counseling. Beth utilizes individual, couple, family, and group counseling. It is highly important to Beth to provide a comfortable therapeutic atmosphere with a caring and empathetic relationship. Beth is committed to continuing her education. Presently she is enthusiastic about neuro-science and the functions of the brain as they relate to relationships, shame, trauma, and healing. She is a long-time member of the American Association of Christian Counseling and a member of Michigan Mental Health Counselors Association.

Beth lives in the Milan area with her husband of over twenty years, her four children and their various pets. She loves to garden, cook and exercise.
